Tips and Tricks

  • Let pages emerge. Don't plan a structure — write, select the nouns that keep coming up, press ⌘L. The wiki shapes itself.
  • One page per thing, not per day — except your Daily Notes, which are the thread that ties the things together.
  • Alias generously. "Q3 plan", "the roadmap", and "Q3 Roadmap" should all be one page. Three aliases, zero broken trails.
  • Search before you create. ⇧⌘O is the fastest way to discover you already wrote it — and if you didn't, the same keystroke creates the page: type the name and choose the Create row.
  • Make a Template: New Page early. Even two lines — a $timeDate$ stamp and a <#summary#> placeholder — make every future page tidier.
  • Keep a Bucket habit. ⇧⌘7 from anywhere, type the thought, get back to what you were doing. Process the Bucket page weekly.
  • Right-click more. The selection menu carries Link Selection, Move Selection, and Ask Your Wiki; images carry Image Size; the page list carries Open in New Tab, Rename, and Duplicate; tabs carry Close Other Tabs and Close Tabs to the Right.
  • Ask your own wiki first. Before you re-research something, ⇧⌘A and ask — the answer with sources is often already yours.
  • Check the Related palette when starting work on an old topic — past-you probably left notes that exact-match search won't surface.
  • Publish something. A Static Publishing site of even three posts changes how carefully you write the rest of the wiki.
  • Trust the safety nets. Deletion is reversible for 30 days and every open makes a backup — refactor your wiki fearlessly.
