Clip to MojoPad — Privacy
The extension talks only to the MojoPad app on your own computer, and nowhere else. The Clip to MojoPad browser extension has no server, no cloud, no account, and no analytics. We never receive any of your data.
It does two things: clipping (save the page you're reading into MojoPad), and — only if you turn it on inside MojoPad — highlighting (underline phrases on pages you read that match the names of pages in your own MojoPad wiki).
Clipping
When you click the Clip to MojoPad toolbar button, the extension reads the content of that one tab — its HTML and images — and hands it to the MojoPad desktop app running on the same machine, over Chrome's local native messaging channel. MojoPad turns it into a page in your local document. Clipping reads a page only when you click.
Highlighting — off unless you turn it on in MojoPad
Highlighting is controlled by a switch inside the MojoPad app (Settings ▸ Web Clipper). Until you turn it on there, the extension has nothing to match against and does nothing on the pages you visit. With it on:
- MojoPad gives the extension a list of your wiki's page names (with a short excerpt of each page for the hover card), over the same local channel — one way, on your device.
- The extension matches those names against the page you're reading, entirely inside your browser. The text of pages you read is never sent to us, to any server, or to any third party.
- If you also enable related-pages suggestions in MojoPad, a short digest of the page (its title and opening text) is passed to the MojoPad app on the same computer, which compares it against your wiki using your own local AI — your machine only, never a server.
- Your hidden terms and muted sites are stored in the extension's local storage on your device.
Where your data goes
Only to the MojoPad application on your own device. Nothing — not your clips, not the pages you read, not your wiki's page names — is transmitted to us, to MojoPad's servers, or to any third party. Nothing leaves your computer through this extension.
What is not collected
No browsing history, no analytics or telemetry, no personal information, no advertising identifiers, no accounts or logins. We do not sell or share any data, because we never receive any.
